Youki Flu, also known as Austėja Žvirblytė, graced the Simplon stage in Groningen on September 28th with a mesmerizing solo performance that showcased her exceptional talent as a vocalist, electric bass player, and composer. Her music is a profound exploration of emotion and authenticity, and it was evident from the very first note.


The concert was a journey through a diverse sonic landscape. One couldn't help but be captivated by the fusion of electronic grooves that provided a pulsating backdrop to her performance. Austeja's vocal improvisations were nothing short of remarkable, offering glimpses into her musical soul. The incorporation of prerecorded vocals added depth and complexity to the overall sound, creating a harmonious blend of live and electronic elements.


A standout moment during the performance was when Austėja played a Maurice Ravel song in her interpretation, evoking the vivid imagery of an authentic French village. Her Lithuanian roots also made their presence felt, infusing certain songs with a Nordic chill that sent shivers down the spine.


Austėja's voice was a chameleon, shifting seamlessly between charming and mystical tones. At times, it felt like being in a dense forest, racing against wolves in a fight for survival. Throughout the concert, a dark dreamy vibe prevailed, enhanced by her incorporation of cool futuristic sounds. Austėja emerged as a musical seeker, delving into the depths of both old and new, and inviting the audience to join her on this captivating journey.
