On a rainy Wednesday evening in Amsterdam, what’s better than going to a shoegaze/post-punk concert? This time Just Mustard prepared a set list not for the faint hearted; 14 songs for the night, kicking off their European tour strong at Paradiso. The ambience immediately settled from the band’s arrival on stage. It was evident right from the start that the audience knew what they came for, and they’ve been waiting with sparkles in their eyes for this concert.

The night is filled with Katie’s crisp clear, cold airy vocals that resonate in the small yet packed room of Paradiso, where monstrous industrial guitars and sound effects of David and Mete screech your skin alongside Shane's pounding mechanical drums and Rob’s deep bass which rattles the floor and nevertheless, your bones, to drag you back in the present moment from which the dreamy melancholic melodies stole you away from. The dimmed lights, shattering at times, further engulfed the audience in Just Mustard’s meditative world.

It was definitely not just mustard that the band presented us last night, but a rather wide collection of the finest sauces. Or a rather luxurious mustard, unknown to mankind. An intense, intimate and impeccable concert, where a fan nearby perfectly described the band's sounds: "It feels surreal". It was Just Mustard, definite must see.
