Tonight will be a tripple feature taking place at Berlin's Urban Spree gallery. Not just a stage, the venue boasts 1700 square miles of all kind of urban arts. Here musicians, artists and general culture enjoyers can come together to bask in berlin's sprawling urban scene, or to just enjoy a drink in the beergarden. A better place to enjoy some noise or punk would be hard to find.

Onstage tonight will be SNIFF an indie-punk project, ERRORR, a loud and fuzzy four-piece. And Wombed, a relatively new but promising musical project, on their debut show. A good night to be a lover of loudness.

SNIFF

Kicking off the night with slow, heavy and almost doomer sounding music is SNIFF. one wouldn't be far off asuming early Black Sabbath was on stage. Mostly in black, the 4 men bring a varying range of music to their set that shows that you shouldn't judge a band by one song. For the four don't just play heavy, they know how to sound soft too when time calls for it. Yet even the quiet moments are bookended by slashing guitars and crashing drums, and an almost shy thank you from the frontman. A drum, bass, guitar and a singer make up this classic fourpiece, although in true rock fashion the frontman picks up the guitar too now and then for a bit of raggin'. Although he truely shines on vocals, drawing out his lyrics at one moment but speeding trough them at another, softly talking at one point and destroying his vocalcords on another. The bassist casually slaps and molests his bassguitar in a carefully controlled matter at just the right moments to create fantastic groovy lines that compliments and amplifies about every song. Talking about anplifying songs, the drumming of this band might be one of the highlights, not to bring his bandmates down but the noticable pressence of hardhitting rythms troughout the set can't go without notice... and mention. Last to be mentioned is the main guitarists, who seems to pull out about every guitar trick in the book. From slide guitar to heavy bands to drowsy doomer, he seems to be able to play it, noticable with only 4 pedals for the entire set. If we have to be critical, and sadly we have to, it should be said that perhaps their repetoir could be adjusted to a bit less of a whiplash in styles throughout a show, but nonetheless the group knows how to make music. Simply said, Sniff plays a great set, a bit all over the place, some flaws here and there, but a great set nonetheless. especially for the urban setting of tonight. Give the band a few more rounds on stage and they can certainly carry their own show. Something every alternative, punk, noise, doomer or general fan of loudness should look forward too.

WOMBED
When a band sets up with an electric violin and a sea of pedals you know it's promising something, and Wombed delivers. Starting off with an expansive yet slow to build up wall of sound this constant barrage of harmonical noise seems to carry on trough the show without letting up. The wall of constant sound seems mostly to be carried by the bassist who slowly and expertly makes his bass produce about every noise imaginable, only to then again surprise with an effective rythm when he is not turning buttons. The rythm ofcourse is also carried by the drummer, well, when he is not mysteriously pounding his high head to help create drowsy dreamlike sounds. The man is a tight player, slow and fast, he does what the song seems to call for. The frontman of this fourpiece is both lead guitarist and vocalist, who manages to belt out feral roars that remind one of roger waters in his prime, while still playing excelent guitar and having a feeling for the theatrical on stage. The special element of Wombed, and their eyecatcher at first glancd, is certainly the violist. Who, with use of several pedals and a lot of skills adds a great experimental, almost psychadelic element to the whole sound. It has to be noted that one point he even plays his violin fingerstyle, as if it's a guitar. At another point he bangs at the back as if it's a bongo.  The entire set is a flawless continuation of dark yet oddly dreamlike alternative rock. Or perhaps the band leans more towards experimental/psychadelic stonerrock. They truely seem to have created their own experimental sound. Yet don't let this scare any potential listeners away, the band is strangely accessible to all walks of life. Tonight is their first gig, and as the chant goes, we want more. What started as one mans expermintal passionsproject has now grown out to something magnificent. If Wombed plays near you, bother to show up. They're great.

ERRORR

ERRORR set up with a famiar face, as their guitarist doubles as the frontman of the previously mentioned Wombed. Yet he was part of ERRORR first. Furthermore the band seems to play in a classic line up, drums, guitar(s) and bass. But with the added element of a while lot of fuzzy pedals that often act as their own instrument. The band starts in the dark and let's the fuzz make first impression. Other instruments are suddenly but surely added to the noise to fabricate a fantastical illusion of an entire ensemble being on stage, yet it's just 4 men. 4 man with musical knowledge that is. That shows when the music really starts and it's quickly evident that ERRORR has been around long enough for the 4 musicians to have honed their craft. Keeping it the lights low, the band does not seem to miss a note, being rightly in touch with their instrument and not needing their eyes to play or the sheer noise of it all illuminates the room enough for them to see. And noise(rock) it is. A constant overdrive guitar seems to accompany about every song while the frontman and vocalist effortlessly bangs out electric rythms when he's not playing the pedals or buttons. This while also almost casually singing, which is impressive considering the crazy moves he has to pull to get the most out of his guitar. All the while the bassist stands almost like a statue, yet it's him and his instrument that's mostly responsible for constant fuzzy background noise and headbangable rythms. The backbone to all this stringed mayhem is an incredible steady drum. Gently swaying behind his kit or almost dancing to the music, the man doesn't seem to miss a beat nomatter how rough it gets. And it gets rough with ERRORR, known for noice. Yet every bandmember sticks out and has their place in this quartet. ERRORR has been called iconic and people gather around to see them play, and after a show like tonight it is obvious why. They know their stuff, they know how to make noisy post-rock. They know how to entertain a crowd. They know how to make music. And ain't that all that matters?
